Re: Helicoil/Inserts?
Not a clue if he’ll do mobile but MW racing (Mike Ward) in Rainford sorted mine a few years back.J..R wrote:Hello,
Just a quick one, does anyone know of any mobile Helicoil/Insert fitters in the Northwest?
Had a slight leak from the Oil Sump on the Intruder and turns out the first two/three threads have snapped on the insert.
The original thread looks ok, just can see where its gone in the photo below
Many thanks in advance.
John
I’d do it for you but my kit only goes up to M12 sorry

Thanks for the offer, I managed to get it sorted on Monday at a place in Widnes, and so far (touch wood) there's been no problems with it!

Helicoil/Inserts?
Used loads over the years but tbh not a fan.
They are ok for a quick repair but prefer the solid self tapping type.

Where sella them? Never seen them, look like a well better idea of there is enough material to allow it.lee wrote:Used loads over the years but tbh not a fan.

If you do use these make sure you don’t suffer from dissimilar metal issues, i.e. stainless inserts in mild steel will weld itself together over time.
