Insurance premium result with Bennetts

Post by jaffa1963 » 20 Feb 2017, 19:39

Today I started playing the usual game of getting insurance quotes for my Tiger 800.

I was expecting about £200 to £300 for the annual premium.

As usual IAM insurance was not a contender. (They offer competitive home insurance though.)

The first 4 I tried were all between £400 and £650 and I was getting a bit anxious.

For some reason I tried Bennetts. They initially wanted £135 for the Tiger.

I saw the "add another bike" button and thought I'd see what happens when I add my F650 which is due in a month. Last year it was £160 with Carole Nash (includes European wide breakdown cover).

Whenever I've gone down this road before I've found it more expensive than separate insurance policies.

Bennetts quoted £200 for both bikes with my normal excess. £60 extra for European breakdown cover with RAC, legal cover and Helmet/leathers cover.

£260 when I was expecting to fork out between £400-500. What a result.

All I have to do now is find something to buy with what's leftover lol.

I swapped to Bennett's last year,
I can't remember the price but I do remember it was a hell of a lot cheaper.

Do you all try thebikeinsurer.co.uk ? Saves me money every year, though obviously not all companies are compared on it

I use thebikeinsurer, comparethemarket and MCN as my first three. I then do a couple of other random insurers (includes Swinton and Bikesure) before phoning IAMSurety and Carole Nash to see if they can better the best quote.

Bennetts will always be on the list from now on.
