Road Tax - Vehicle Excise Duty

Post by jaffa1963 » 06 Feb 2017, 22:39

Hi folks,

Just after some advice. The tax on my Tiger is up for renewal from the 1st of March but I won't be riding it until the 1st of May as I'll still be on my old F650.

I was thinking about putting it SORN until then but the next bit I'm not sure about as I've always paid for either 6 or 12 months road tax up front.

If I pay the tax monthly can I then decide to SORN it again from lets say 1st of December and then start up monthly payments again in the following spring? Or have I got to pay for a year of monthly payments?

Thanks for the help,

Steve

I love the new system, but don't trust pay monthly on insurance or tax.

I always tax my bikes for 12 months, but now SORN the Breva at the end of April and in May tax the other two. Then Sorn those at the end of September and tax the Breva in October ready for winter. The refund cheques turn up promptly. Far better than surrendering the old tax disc.

If you need to re-tax a vehicle with 10 days of SORN, then you have to do it at a post office. Bought a car on the second last day of the month and on the transfer declared it SORN. 1st of next month couldn't tax it on line.

Thanks Kev. I've obviously been missing a trick with the changes to the road tax system.

If we don't get wiser as we age, we turn into an old "CupidStunt" and one of those in the old is one too many.

Yes Will, glad my humble submissiveness, faced with his onslaught of torturous razor shut quips amuses. It is his charismatic ability to twist in a snap an innocent and unrelated comment of a third party’s, into a fresh, imaginative, witty and creative jibe dripping with a crass slap down at my expense. Meanwhile, I can only retort with an archaic, lame, impotent and widely used quips from the bygone era from where all my drivel was gained. I just get slaughtered time after time as a comics straight man. I mean, who can possibly compete with a class of originality & sarcasm such as this?
