Fracking - PLEASE sign
Fracking - PLEASE sign
You might know the background...
Fracking company applied to frack near Blackpool, council turned down the application, the company appealed, and the government (the same one who says local decisions should be made locally) called in the decision and overruled the council to allow it. Disgusting
Totally undermining democracy, risks quality of life and health for hundreds of thousands of people, and all for MORE fossil fuels which we should be moving away from.
Seems very much a test case for more fracking across the country too. Can't let it go ahead

Just saw this little nugget too... Councils will fear representing the people in case they get overruled, excellent. http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/news/ ... -1-8170182" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Elswick isn't the same as what's being proposed. However they bring it up (and helpfully put it on their website) to try and dupe people.bloke wrote:1993 and no disasters and nobody has died or grown extra heads etc...http://www.cuadrillaresources.com/our-s ... s/elswick/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's almost as if you can't trust the company who stand to make money from it? Shocking concept I know
A very quick Google found this:
Elswick is a conventional reservoir which was not fracked in the sense it is now used (and defined by the government in recent legislation) but was stimulated by use of nitrogen foam. It has been producing gas since the 1990s.
Elswick can not be used to illustrate the potential impact of a potential unconventional shale gas development. The techniques used for fracking shale will be significantly different from the Elswick stimulation. It will be remembered that the Advertising Standards Authority after careful consideration considered that Cuadrilla was unjustified in using Elswick as a comparison site with a shale gas well

Plus, even if their aren't any environmental or health problems from the fracking itself (i hope to god their isn't, but really think there will be unfortunately), absolute best case is we get more fossil fuel to burn... It's so stupid
