Android/Galaxy S4 - how to disable telephone function?

Post by Jim27 » 12 Aug 2015, 01:06

Just wondering if anyone on here is wise in the ways of Samsung/Android?

I'm going to be using my Galaxy S4 (running Android 5.0.1) as a satnav on the bike and want to stop any incoming calls but still want to be able to use bluetooth and data. Any ideas how to do this?

Phone will be running Google Maps navigation and sending audio to a bluetooth helmet speaker. Google Maps nav also needs access to data to work properly, so I can't just put the phone in Flight Mode because as well as disabling the telephone function that'd also cut off the bluetooth and data.

Any suggestions?

Id forget google maps and use co pilot app instead.

Doesnt need a data connection so wont stop updating the route if the signal goes a bit shit.

I think you should be able to put the phone into "do not disturb mode". Can't remember how it's been a while but it should be there somewhere.

It's handy because you can allow certain numbers to still call you in an emergency.

Should be what you're looking for:

Blocking Mode
◾Go to Settings and tap on My Device tab at the top side.
◾Then scroll down and tap on Blocking Mode option to turn on. Using this option, you can turn off incoming calls, SMS, Screen notifications, alarm and LED indicator.
◾You can turn on the Blocking mode option either manually or set it disable between definite hours.

Auto Call Reject

◾Start the Settings and tap on My Device tab.
◾Then tap on Call option and find the Auto call reject option.
◾The most general method to create the Auto reject list of all targeted numbers. To do so, simply enter a number and check the box beside it.
◾In additions you can set and send a message automatically to the rejected person giving details why their call was rejected.
