As Barts dad says Alvor is a nice place, smallish but peaceful, nice beaches etc. We were in a friend of a friends luxury apartment about 15 mins walk from the town, couldn't fault it. Had a day at albufeira, it seemed a nice place but noisy at night if near the "strip" apparently. Plenty of nice places to visit nearby specially if you hire a car
