Havoc on the The Motorway due to the weather

Witnessed this first hand whilst going over to mother in law's in West Yorkshire today. Looked to be no more than 3ft in diameter if that, but suffice to say, it was enough to close the west bound carriageway. 10 mile tail backs at 11am.
Had to take substantial detour to get back home later to avoid puddles and the like, but made it.

Wonder how long it will take to fix? I'm starting a new contract in Rotherham in January and that's going to be a proper ball ache.
