Talk about anything bike related.

What seems strange is they set the bike up and send you on your way.
A race bike would be back in to see how it feels, adjust, send out again etc.
From what im told a lot of it is in the sag setup then simply bouncing the bike and seeing how it reacts, settles etc.

I like to understand whats happening and set my own up to be honest.
Although I did nearly admit defeat this time.
When they set the bike up, they told me to come back for free if there are any issues or adjustments needed. Bike was noticeably different after being setup by them though, so I was very pleased.

Spent some £££s at Kais - not a big fan unfortunately - some major issues with what they did on my set up and was not happy with some of the advice and responses to my queries - if your bike is being set up, I'd suggest you need to be there and sat on it when particular measurements and adjustments are made - readjust after testing is pretty much what I would expect too.

Ultimately though, go for a good recommendation regardless...

Do your home work how suspension works then have a go your self

You can goggle the base setting for your bike so you can return the bike to this setting if your not happy

A big plus is to get your front forks serviced if your bike is old

Do you twiddle blindly?
Do you apply a methodical approach as you understand the adjustments?
Do you take it to an expert to get it done?

My sd was a challenge as setting it up as I have always done just wasnt cutting it.
I got the damping sorted fairly quickly, but I ended up with less sag than I would normally use which made a huge difference.

I quite like getting a feel for how the bike behaves and seeing if it can be improved.

Im curious as to how others go about the black art of setting theirs up.
somebody (assuming someone on here) would quite often do mine for me, albeit it uber badly, whilst enjoying a nice half and pig roast at the scotch piper. Everytime i came back to my bike the preload adjusters had been moved so i took them off, sods!

I cheated - I trawled the R1 forums for the best set up for someone my weight. I found that the same settings came up a good few times and bingo. It was like a new bike.

Glad to have given some inspiration, Lee.

After my 8 days in Spain on some fast sweeping and VERY tight corners in the gorges the SD handled it with it's usual ha ha could have gone round that one faster attitude.

Still, managed to get the front tyre to the edge on some of the stupidly fast 180 degree bends. Will try to get a vid up of a petrol station dash. :-) Even got slapped in the visor by a bird.Image
