That is an interesting comparison you make C-J.C-J wrote:OK.... I'll bite
The free latte in Williams showroom is really nice actually....
You name a bike manufacturer... I'll name a horror story from lots of people... The internet is a wonderful place where things go wrong and people can have a collective whinge about it... What you miss out on is the one's who are happy with their products, keeping quiet..
I know... let me pick one as an example... Say an MT09 !!
Ohh look theyre talking about snatchy throttles and remaping the ECU... thata not very good is it..
How about,
Complaints about crap stock suspension
Running Hot
Drive train puller deformnig
the official where is yours rusting thread !!
Dont take this as a slating of a particular product. Its an example of internet woe's. Im sure the MT09 is a good bike... They are out selling a GS so they cant be wrong hey ....
I like Beemer's. I like the product, I like the character of the boxer engine, I like the funny suspension, I like the toys and gadgets, I like the design intent of function before form, I like the customer service provided. I am totally blinkered.... I am brainwashed... I am clearly a fool !! But a happy one !!
You compare an £8k, 2 year old design in its' 1st generation against the BMW Boxer going for near £15K that they have been fettling away at though numerous revisions over the last 5 decade or more. Please, that's an own goal if ever I saw one. Just how low do you pitch those pieces of Bavarian pig iron.
Anyway, you bit, so my work here is done.

Where did I compare a modern Beemer to an MT09 ?? All I did was read a list from the internet that made me judge the MT09. I can quite happily go and read off a list of problems for the latest Panigale if you want ?? thats even more expensive than a Beemer.... Should that be of even higher quality....Cabernet wrote: That is an interesting comparison you make C-J.

Maybe I should pick on your beloved Guzzi ??
I could compare against a Guzzi V Twin going for near £17k, that they have been been fettling away with through numerous revisions over the last 5 decades......
Seriously... nearly 17 thousand pounds... and the only modern tech you get is ABS....
If you really want me to I'll endulge your hatred for boxers and read off a list of the faults with them for you.... Oh there's loads of horror stories on the internet about them.... Personally I only suffered from a duff battery.... bad BMW... can't believe BMW can't make a good battery
Ball back in your net..

The riders tend to give them a bad namelee wrote:Ktm make awesome bikes with zero issues.
Aprilia's on the other hand... Italian bikes are known for reliability, and it's what the cool kids have

this is were they stand out ,the customer service is incredible .C-J wrote:I like the customer service provided. I:D
Example …a GS 6 months out of warranty was filled with diesel while the rider was staring at the tits of some spanish local on the costa del sol ….the BMW help line was called and the bike , collected . taken to a local Workshop ,cleaned out ,re fuelled and ready to go…. no cost at all …(it was worth it though cos the tits on that señorita were amazing )
Example 2 ( not a good one) A friend buys a new R1 from wigan Yam , its done 750 miles been serviced and we head to france, It breaksdown in dunkirk , We ring Yamaha, they send out Yamaha France and the guy cannot speak a word of english, but we understood him saying .."Non..cant fix ring Yamaha UK.. two days later Yamaha UK arrive . They take one look and say NO…not touching the bike ,its not got a std exhaust !!! Wigan Yam fitted akapovics as part of the sale deal!!! FUCK IT ,,so we hire a van get the bike back to wigan who strip it and say its a bent valve !!!! someone nearly had there lights punched out that day in Wigan …
the moral of the story is …Bike manufactures all have there problems its how they deal with them
