M6 Toll Cameras
M6 Toll Cameras
Simple question - as the M6 toll is a private road are there speed cameras on it
Re: M6 Toll Cameras
Wasn't any when I used to go down it every week. However that was 6 years ago lol
Re: M6 Toll Cameras
Was on it last year and no obvious speed cams - it's like going on a 90s motorway - less congestion and looks like 80-90 is easily done with little hassle !
Re: M6 Toll Cameras
It's privately managed publicly owned (so effectively leased, as I understand it) but you can still be done for speeding, as normal rules of the road apply. Similarly speed cameras etc. can be sited on it if the Powers That Be decide to.

I go through at least twice per week. Usually 90+ (touch wood).
The police CAN pull you over, I occasionally see unmarked cars. I tend to stick with the fastest car within reason.

No fixed cameras on it when I last went down a few months ago but I know someone has been done for speeding on it in the past
Re: M6 Toll Cameras
There are no gatsos or SPEC type cameras on the toll road , but it is heavily policed by unmarked bikes and cars .gingerb wrote:Simple question - as the M6 toll is a private road are there speed cameras on it
It would be advisable to ride within the law especially at peak travel times . I recall MCN did a "race" between using the Toll and the Normal M6 on a bike , there was not a lot of difference in time .
What's the cost for a bike now down the toll road ?

Re: M6 Toll Cameras
It was £3 last time I went down and as for not going on it I hate the main M^ through Brum and I believe it's covered in roadworks and 50mph limit at the moment. £3 definitely worth it for me plus the services are nice

I used to turn off the M6 at the A5 and follow that through to the M42.
Much more stimulating.
Alternatively carry on with the A5 onto the Fosse Way (B4455), an old Roman road.
From that take the A423 through Southham and join the M40 by Banbury.
