Oil sump bolts

Post by Marco » 25 May 2015, 00:11

Question can the bolts on the oil sump come lose after a 20-30 mph lowside? Or any engine bolts for that matter. The reason I ask is I aquired an oil leek about a year and a half ago which I never got around to sourcing or fixing it only appeared after I binned it I striped the bike down to find 3 of the bolts where a bit loose. So can it happen??

yes, cases can crack and while not easily spotted or apparent can start to spring leaks.
NC30's and RVF's are prone for it in a drop, they look fine then start weeping oil from nowhere. only once you remove the clutch cover can you spot the damage.
