2 stroke owners

Post by CRM » 13 May 2015, 07:21

So come on - fess up, who on here owns a stroker these days for road use - or is it just me killing the ozone off ?
I know they are seen as old hat and a bit shit compared to 4 strokes, but you can't deny how addictive they are to ride and more importantly how light they are

So what you all got then ? pics ideally. there will be another ride around north wales this year.

and for those to young to get what all the fuss was about

I've owned one or two in the past, 2 x GT250's, X7, RD250, All back in the 70's and 80's, I loved them all, just got fed up of breaking down on a regular basis. :)
You can't beat the smell of 2 stroke in the morning though.

Biggest drop bollock tho was selling a RS250 Aprilia I bought about ten year back, kept it a couple of years, but then sold it cos I rattled a big bill up on my credit card when my lad was racing so it had to go. Awesome tool for a 250. A lad came from Birmingham to pick it up, said it was his first decent bike& he rode it back down the motorway in shell suit pants and trainers??? Proper dimshit he was. What a waste

The RS was the old RGV engine and not one i personally would care to repeat. a peaky unreliable engine - but it sure went ok.

I have had a couple of VJ22's but i also owned a VJ23 import and i sold it in 2006 and used the money on (wait for it) a fucking deposit on a CBR600RR5 - which was possibly the worst road bike i have ever ridden.

Yeh I knew it was the Suzuki engine. It certainly went well ill give you that. I never had any probs but then I didn't use it to much really. It was a 2nd bike and if truth known I had already got past the head down arse up stage. Dont like to admit to it do we. Just it would be worth a bit more now and I do like two strokes. The lad loved it, I should have let him have it but needs must I suppose. Is it harder to get pics on here now.
