Looking for a commuter bike what about this?

Post by johnwirral » 06 Apr 2015, 20:48

Hi all,

Been looking to get a bike as currently going through the tunnel each day - whats your feeling / advice on something like this?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-FZ6-Fa ... 4ae787764e" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Many thanks in advance. ;)

whatever you get. You will need a loud exhaust to benefit the tunnel lol

that looks a minter ! I'm sure you would get a more "use model " cheaper , obviously if you have the cash go for that one

Abike like this or a bandit /hornet etc superb for commuting

Yeah, the seller is holding out quite firm on price - It would be nice to have a newer bike - last bike was a 1998 bandit 600n, left me stranded with steering lock sticking on and snapping key, breaking down due to leaks around the carbs - little rubber o-rings, main fuse blowing - once it had a visit to Bloke it ran like a dream - but needed to sell to fund a car for new job at the time. Now working local again and could do with a bike.

Cheers - its hard work to find a second hand bike - this one looks like a good balance of age and mileage. Might have a look at it tomorrow if the seller is around.

i take it that's you by the way?

get it on the centre stand and run it through the gears, second especially. they are a shite gearbox, especially second gear for some reason. i rebuilt on the other year with new second gear in it, everything else looked fine, no wear to the dogs etc but was noisy on the over run in second. spoke to a few people who've had similar problems with them.

Great bike, ran a 2010 MY for a couple of years, naked version. Used every day as a commuter and weekends for the odd ride out. It never let me down and stood up to all weather types. Build quality is excellent, never had a problem with the gears but I used to change my oil and filter every 3k. Found it a little thirsty for a 600.
