Race one wasn't too exciting to be honest, but race 2 is well worth a watch if you get chance

They had tyre problems in race one (Phillip Island destroying them), so race 2 had a mandatory pit stop and tyre change at the end of either lap 10, 11 or 12

As far as i can tell (or understand) they are doing away with the air restrictors and using rev limiting to try and balance out the racing.
To start with you get to begin with the rev limit you finished with last season.
Then depending on an unfathomable algorithm based on lap times, results, moon phases etc the limit can be altered by 250rpm increments.

Too complicated in my opinion.

I get the idea.
Stop kawasaki running away with it.
But personally i think the others should be improving, rather than handicap the best bike?
Isnt that part of racing? To see who is the best rider and the best bike?

The intended outcome is a more competitive race series ? Its effectively a handicap system then.

I think a big problem with it (and this is only based on my understanding which is probably wrong, lol) is the limits are across the manufacturer

So the Kawasaki is clearly a good bike but Rea is arguably the best rider, so when he does well all Kawasaki's lose max rpm

It's hard, because they do need it to be closer, but if they're gonna shift the goalposts and effectively give the lesser teams an advantage it's not a fair race

Found it funny last year when they did the changed grid thing for second race (so podium riders from first race start on third row for second to try and even it up that way a bit)... Rea was normally up to first place within a few corners anyway

Id prefer to see them give the less successful teams more test days, allow more upgrades etc etc but the rules are also there to curb costs.
So handicapping the best performers is the way they went.
