Ok.
Lets say you have £5k to spend on a bike.

What would you buy?

It can be your only bike so has to do everything

Interested to see what you would go for and why?

Nice thought / cool thread... And I honestly don't know

I like all the suggestions so far... Cab's are sensible and would do the job nicely, though I'd be tempted by a Mana over a Shiver just out of curiosity but never ridden either

The zzr is from what I've heard a cracking bike, uncle has had one for years and loves it... Honestly I think I'd have something a bit more sat upright as an all rounder but I've never ridden one so this is maybe naive

And the BMW is one of the only models of beemer which I like the look of, so fair enough

Realistically for me all I need a bike for at the moment is fun - I use a car for commuting and taking the family places so I could just go for anything, but that's not really in the spirit of the thread...

It'd have to be a sports tourer or adventure bike I think, personally much prefer twins so that narrows it slightly... I could say 'a Futura' as I've had one of them for 10 years and still love it, but again that's not in the spirit of the thread I don't think...

After having a flick through auto trader I've decided against my sports tourer theme and think maybe a pre-v4 Tuono...

Nice comfy riding position, very sporty when you want it to be, reliable and strong engine... Still lovely looking imo, and for 5k you can even get a factory model with fairly low miles... Yes please :-)
