Help Me Choose a New Bike

Post by Chops Mcgoo » 05 Apr 2015, 15:44

Ok, so I have a week off work this week and I have decided I am going to treat myself to a new bike. In December I test rode the tiger 800 XR and XC and loved the XC, but then I also rode the 1050 sport and was blown away. Which has left me unable to make a decision.

So, I'm after a few ideas of similar bikes or suggestions based on these two and what I want from the machine. I plan on keeping my current hornet, first bike and great fun and all that.

But I ant something I can chuck panniers on and ride a bit further. Also, I work in Birmngham, now I'm not goin to be riding there every day. I have a company car for that. But I do want something I can use for this maybe once a month and be comfy and hav room fr my laptop.

Anyway, any hints or recommendations welcome!

Have you considered a sport tourer such as the Sprint GT.
You get the 1050 engine plus the sport tourer bits for longer distances.

Just swapped my Gixxa for a Sprint ST and I can't fault it. Well worth a test ride. It feels a bit heavy when you are man-handling it into the garage, but when you are riding it the weight just seems to disappear.
It's all about the TT ....

Will you ever go offroad?

If not, get the 1050 sport.

It's weird, when I see the 1050 in a photo it looks a bit marmite ish, but in the metal it looks awesome!

Saw a few MT09 Tracers today....they look nice! Anyone here ridden one yet?
