North and mid Wales are day tripable, so Scotland north Glasgow and Edinburgh. However don't count out East Anglia and the South west.

Also, Scotland you should be going now. Come June the west coast will be rife with midge, at least when the wind drols.

i ride in the Highlands twice a year, have done for the past 8 or 9 years at least.
After the May Bank Hols the dreaded midge appear and try to eat you alive. from Mid July the roads are busy with Caravans all being driven by grandpa and Grandma.
As posted, the best time to go is now, west is best. Head up towards Loch Lomond, then keep left over Glencoe, Fort William or Oban. The road surfaces are superb , above Glasgow, you will rarely see any Police, they do know lots of bikers hit the roads at weekends though and use unmarked Bikes in certain areas, so be careful and ride safe

In July, the Cairngorms are still great as is the coast. On a breezy day the midges aren't a problem and most of the NW is doable from Inverness.
