Personal opinion, the front end just looks cheap & nasty. Looks like a parts bike from ebay and some copy manufacturer.

Hide the front end and paint it a decent colour and its actually alright though, shame.

My neighbour has been making me very jealous recently, bought the yam XSR900 demo bike from Wigan, thing if beauty and boy does it go some.

Rather than posting my opinion I'll C&P this from one of the guys on the Z1 forum Re:- this Z650.....

"The pile of dung they titled a Z650 is not worthy of the mantle.

I have read many threads across 3 forums on this abortion and every one to date has disliked it.

The new Z650 is a TWIN for gods sake. Its a commuter/learner bike

(I henceforth refuse to call it a Zed any more) !!

WHY give the title of an iconic classic when it's not ?

Instead they produce this mechanical ant lookalike"

CC Charlie (with a little paraphrase).

'Bout sums the thing up for me.

I can't argue on front end looks. Although the MT07 is no pin up. The SV650 or XSR700 has it there. However, overal the new Z650 with that swing arm looks far better than the ER6 with asymmetric setup.

Garry, Don't see how a bike can knocked for it's name. This new Z650 is aimed at riders whose fathers may not have born in the era of the old Z650 was new. In recent tests the biking press don't seem to be able to put a rizla between the new SV650 and MT-07. I will watch with interest to see where this new Z650 gets pitched. The SV would win it for me right now, only coz there's a dealer within walking distance.

Makes me laugh how all the nostalgia boys forget how horrible the old stuff really was. Shit frames, crap brakes, poor fuel consumption and woeful performance. I would like to bet that the new era of "shopping" bikes would piss all over the old zeds
Revving the bollox off it since 1982
