Post by J..R » 04 Oct 2016, 18:54

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone thinks this is a bit steep at all, I'm currently paying £320 with the same company for the bike I have.

1 Year old Lexmoto Arizona with 1 years no claims Alarmed, Tracked, Garaged etc

Bennetts: TPFT £550 Excess £389 a year

Used the likes of Go Compare/Market etc and the cheapest through them is MCE, £750 excess but £169 a year TPFT

Had a few quotes so far of Bikesafe, Bemoto etc:

Bikesure quoted £380 TPFT via Aviva, Bemoto was around the same as I'm paying now.

Had a look via MCE and for TPFT it was £167 a year although the excess was £200 more than it is now.

Going to get a few more quotes but seems like MCE may be the ones to go with.

Hi,

Yep I tried them, first quote wasn't too bad at £161 but when I looked at the mileage (3k per year) and upped that to 10k + added the top box* it came out as £282.

(*classed as a modification due to it having it on at the shop originally)

Now insured with MCE :D

gutted, they are usually the cheapest around by a country mile. Think i got my last policy to 10k miles for £30, only managed 1100 miles in the year haha.
Well done though- ride safe

Thank you, Hopefully next year I'll be out a fair bit more, plus I wasn't sure how many miles I'd do this first year so put it down for 11000 miles, have done just under 7000 this year though going back and forward to work plus the odd ride now and again. aiming for 10,500 miles though next year if I can (bikes done 10,680km so far).

Possible be looking at going for the full test though next year once I've had this carpal tunnel op in a fortnight.
