Any first hand advice of personal injury and bike repairs

Post by lee » 12 May 2016, 11:52

Got taken out this morning by a car
Im a bit battered but luckily nothing broken.
Ktm has seen better days.
Looks like bent forks, damaged casing, foot-pegs, bent exhaust (akropovic) plastic damage, levers, bar ends, mirrors etc.
Textiles did a great job. No road rash.
Gloves saved my hands. Boots prevented anything too serious (foot was crushed between the bike and car).
Did my best superman impression over the roof. Landed on my back. Back protector did its job.

Spoke to Bennett's and they have passed my details on to the solicitors they use and 4th dimension who are their approved repairers.
Now alarm bells rang cos I'm sure thats who benny used for the sp2 he had and they were absolutely shocking.

Can anyone recommend a good solicitor and repair company they have used (please, no "i heard such and such were good")
Am i ok to tell my insurer i don't want to use their people?
Should be a pretty straightforward claim, other party admitted liability in front of a witness who saw everything.

Cheers.

Bloody hell Lee, sorry to hear about the crash.
Hope you are ok, that's the main thing, mcn always have a bike law feature by http://www.bikelawyer.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; so might be worth looking at them too.
And I'm pretty sure you can choose a different repair centre if you want

Hard lines mate.
I won't use "Silverbeck Rhymer" solicitors again.

thats shit Lee …glad your ok mate…have the other party admitted Liability etc …..? Sorrymate.com seem to be the market leaders up north …not sure how it works if you have legal cover on your policy etc.but yes that name does sound familiar from Bennys days ,,his bike was unbelievable when "sorted" ,and they admitted liability so his compensation was that Blade ….less said the better..

Lets us know how you get on ,will be an interesting thread… claim for a new lid mate as well i know you were having issues with the Shoei..just glad your ok

Other party admitted liability at side of road in front of a witness.
Mine lid is away at shoei and i had on a different one.
Probably not bothered about injury claim. Nothing broken. Just a bit beat up.
Will claim for all my gear. Everything has damage of some sort.
My insurance said i either need to claim of my policy or the third party so will need to ring them.
Funny cos we are both insured by axa.
Don't think i will bother with a hire bike. Can prove to be a hassle.
Just need to find a different repairer to assess and either write it off or fix it.

Glad you're ok buddy

Thankfully I've not had a spill for a long time, but I was hit by a car a number of years ago, and http://www.shoosmiths.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; were who I got through insurance. I was quite impressed, but did a lot of prep (photos, statements etc) myself to help

Like I say, I was impressed but it was many years ago

what I will say is as it was the other guys fault, if you're genuinely injured you should claim for that in my opinion, as that's just

Good to hear you've come out of it ok, nothing to add about claims other than don't use MCE's, 2 and a half years after my little off and it still hasn't been sorted.

Sorry to hear about your accident Lee but at least you weren't to badly injured.
Its a shame about your bike mate but at least it's repairable.
Sorry I can't offer any advice about solicitors or repairs.
Thankfully I haven't needed the services of either.
I hope you get it all sorted quickly and back on the road. :)
