Shim gap???

Ok seing as there's not much on here in garage section could someone post a proper how to check shim gap in the workshop be useful to a lot of members as I for one am stumped to many videos

1st thing smudger download the shim calculator here it tells you what size shims to use when you need to change them http://vicdzen.narod.ru/index/0-2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; then just follow the manual i thought it was daunting at 1st but its pretty easy really..

I only ask as I knocked my work table and the buckets rolled and yes they all have different shims in I may As well check all clearnce

the only thing you can do now then smudge is put the shims and buckets back in,tho ideally you should put them in the cyliders they came out of,but hey ho and like you say re check them a little tip for future use a large egg box for shims and buckets and make note of which cylinder exhaust and intake they came from.

Oh so the valve I want to check I do it with the cam lobe fir that valve pointing up?

So if you have all the buckets and shims out, you must have measured the gaps before removal and written them down then measured the shims as you removed them?

No

That's fooked it then.

Always helps to number the shims and buckets with a marker when you remove them.
It is possible to work out the shim sizes by measuring from the valve tip to the cam lobe, but good luck with that and fairly pointless as you have to refit the cams anyway

It's a second hand end I replaced stem seals everything was nice and neat and bang knocked the table.

That's why marking them comes in handy, lesson learnt.
