Re: Shafties
Well, the ST1100 was the best BMW, BMW never built. By accounts from some BTP I aquaint with the 1300 is better still. Just make sure you use the rubber granulated grease on the rear wheel splines at every tyre change.Dave wrote:i love the 1300 Pan Smudge would you not move up tp one of those? the cult followers of the St1100 dont like the 13, but for me it was a much better bike , i had one over twice he limit in Germany and no wobble what so ever !

On the ST1300? Yes, they do look rather armchairy. Where the ST1100 feels more prone and involving.SMUDGER wrote:Don't like riding positionDave wrote:hahahaha go fer it mate

Re: Shafties
Think I got my R1100S with around 38,000 to 40,000 miles already on it.
I only rode it for a few thousand "hard, ham fisted" miles before the gearbox went KAPOW! I think the final reading was around 46,000 miles.
Relatively speaking, this isn't the only bike I've destroyed with my Kevin Schwantz riding style (or rather, lack of style).
I did like the BMW R1100S, it looked unusual, had heated grips, was comfortable and never tried to kill me.
