Removing exif metadata
Removing exif metadata
Well I've been thinking, when I've played the tag challenge I cheat I use the exif metadata to know exactly were a photo has been taken.
What is exif metadata well any photo took on a device with GPS writes the Co ordinates. Make of device and a lot of other cool stuff in the picture.
Which got me thinking, if I use it to cheat the tag game then criminals can use it when e.g you sell your bike or if pictures are taken at your home address so basically I'm saying this would result in planned bike theft.
There are three ways to avoid exif metadata being used
1. Use a none GPS camera
2. Turn off the setting to allow this data to be saved.
3. Remove the exif metadata using a programme just Google exif metadata stripper.
And for those that are less tech savvy and don't know what I'm on about
If you right click on ur photo and select properties yes there look Co ordinates or go to this website and try your image there it will give you address your photo was took
http://regex.info/exif.cgi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Hope people find this useful
And for a good read on how it works

Re: Removing exif metadata
Yeah this was posted a few times on the old site.
If your at all concerned make sure the gps tag is disabled on phone and camera if it has that feature.

Re: Removing exif metadata
Bugger me!! Google knows where i am taking photographs but doesn't know how to get me home from Leeds? Fudge me they have some weird priorities.
Re: Removing exif metadata
or copy and paste your image into another app (paint or photoshop) and save for web / jpg and loose all the personal info
Upgrade your account to VIP status to enable the Signature feature.
Re: Removing exif metadata
Upload all images to IMGUR.COM and it strips the exif data automatically
You have to upload it anyway so might as well use somebody elses servers not NWB!
