Roadworks

Post by lee » 30 Nov 2015, 22:23

Ok.
So here is the scenario.
Rush hour traffic on the lancs.
The carriageway is down to one lane due to roadworks.
These are for the bus lane works.
There is nothing in the roadworks, just a coned off length of road for about 800 yards until they end and its back to two lanes.

So.

Do you -
a) sit patiently in the traffic.
b) try to filter between the traffic and the cones.
c) nip into the roadworks and ride right through until they end.

Honest answers....

30 years ago I did that for about miles on the M62 over Saddleworth at pace.
Now a days, filter is I could or wait. Unless the traffic has absolutely stopped for a while.

policy might have changed but in my day it was as harsh as possible because of the vulnerability of road workers. The fact that there's nobody working at the point in question didn't seem to hold much water in court and I've seen short prison sentences handed out this was for motorway contraflow but I wouldn't imagine a road like the lancs would be treated too much different.

I have to deal with these as well Lee................what a pain in the arse they are!!

PS....I would try and filter rather than go in the road works, although ever now and again you get 1 twat in a car that blocks you and won't move, so in that case I do go around the cones then back to filtering.
