Honda CB1000R
Re: Honda CB1000R
theres plenty of cb1000r out there localish from 4200-4500 just not repsol, dream machines do the repsol paint job £600 same people hunts use to paint there repsols, so in theory it be easier to get a decent one and get it painted so it would be really clean on paint

Yes I agree mate, not the best time of year to be buying. We've missed 3 now at within his budget, I'll happily take him anywhere to pick one up but can only get there at weekends and by then it's gone!Soviet wrote:Hi Bud - I've got a CB1000R (not for sale!) and am a member of the owners forum - you're looking at up to £6k now (with summer coming) for a tricolour or Repsol jobbie with reasonable (low) miles on - the less popular colours (09/10) are about £5k with some mileage on them.
£4-4.5k will get you a high mileage 'other colour' requiring a little work / cleaning up.
You CAN get what you want for less, but you'll need to play a waiting game and be prepared to travel. It goes without saying that Autumn and Winter are the best hunting periods.

This one looks more promising, but is being bid on (and is in Swansea!):

Keep looking and good luck - Private via Ebay is your best bet - you've a poorer chance via a bike shop...!
He's bikeless now so may consider something else, or may have to get something else. I've suggested some really good alternatives but just got looked at like I had two heads .

£600 for a Dream Machine job? Really? I'd have thought it more expensive than that. I'm not saying your wrong, I have no idea. They wanted £200 to do the mudguard on my SP .SMUDGER wrote:theres plenty of cb1000r out there localish from 4200-4500 just not repsol, dream machines do the repsol paint job £600 same people hunts use to paint there repsols, so in theory it be easier to get a decent one and get it painted so it would be really clean on paint

The CB is well worth having - he'll get one but it's the tricolour / Repsol scheme that is most popular - White or black are good options and you could get a higher mileage bike in decent nick for nearer 4 - if he can live with having a really good example in any colour he could save up for the paint job ? The bike itself is a dream to ride, runs like a clock and has decent build quality - Hope he gets sorted !

I seen a post on cb1000r that said it's how much unless that was £600 upgrade from hunts i dunnomarkc wrote:£600 for a Dream Machine job? Really? I'd have thought it more expensive than that. These are great bikes , if you have your heart set on one I'd wait . One will show up . Hic and repsol are the ones
Smudge not sure on that quote mate , I had a white one in 2012 to play on and hunts ( who I got it off ) wanted £1250 to paint it . My friend sent her rear seat pod to dream machine to be " touched up " £200 ! But was a superb finish

Re: Honda CB1000R
... I think it's whatever floats your boat - like the z1000 (although I think I'd get the SX) and the Streetfighter is a work of art - you can't beat the build quality on the CB though and the turbine like torque !
