Had a play today and got head off as you can see just marked piston hoping it's ok
Liners are fine
As head is fooked
So do I second hand head or new engine???
Also for @Lee

Starting getting there now decided not to give up as I don't admit defeat awaiting delivery of cylinder head and gasket so I can finish up. Since carbs are off ill be deep cleaning them

I'd replace that piston mate just to save this problem becoming a holy piston and bottom end rebuild. Shouldn't be too costly though you'll need it re-boring and honing as that barrel and piston will have worn to each other.
New piston ~£30?
Re-bore around ~£25-40

Fowlers do them for £50.
Quick check and seen loads for €50.
New piston is £60.

I wouldn't be leaving a damaged piston in but its your call. Its impacted a valve and chipped the crown.
Id be looking for a low milage replacement engine or it would be getting broke for spares and buy a new bike.

So that's £240 on pistons and £200-£280 on rings depending on rebore as let me see pointless doing one

Why are the rings so expensive? Are they an odd size or fancy material?

Was pretty surprised at £50.
Even ktm are cheaper for mine.
Mind you a piston is £320 compared to the £60 for honda.
