I use gunk engine degreaser on my chain.
Should work well if you brush in with a paintbrush.
Halfords sell it in a tin cheaper than online shops.

Not used it myself but one of the guys on the bandit forum used it on his engine and had great results, maybe someone else can verify..

Thats a terrible idea, it will ruin the seals and grease inside the chain! How long have you been doing this?

Gunk should only be used on plain metal areas, it can burn through paint also.

Bollocks.
Been using it for years and never had any issues.
Cbr chain is on about 23k miles.
Sd on 18k since I bought bike (chain already on it).

Im guessing you have actually used it and suffered a failure as a direct result and not just repeated what someone else told you?
