When I did the cbr clutch I set the cable a bit tight causing it to slip baffled me for ages but loosened cable slightly and was fine

Have you adjusted 17, 18 and 19?

Might need removing complely and 25 years of final drive fling cleaning out of it.

Ok done it - I think. There is an adjustor on sprocket cover which moves the push rod. So should be ok now.
