MT09 Idling

Post by gmercer1 » 06 Jul 2016, 14:09

Hi All,

My MT09 seems to idling at a little lower revs than normal, and on 2 occasions in the past couple if months I have revved the engine and it then cut out.
Anyone any ideas how to up the idle a little or what could be causing it?

Cheers

sounds like either a TPS (throttle position sensor) failure or IACV (idle air control valve) failure/intake leak.
Either of these will cause the issue you have.

Failing that shit in the tank & fuel filter and subsequent blocked jets will cause it, easier and cheaper to check and clean these first too Image

You can't up the idle on em. Throttle free play adjustment seems popular tho. Also lots or reports of problems with ignition keys not being fully turned to the on position or perhaps the bunch of keys moving about ( stupid place to put an ignition barrel IMHO)
